The problem of interrelation between peculiarities of values and motivation and work satisfaction in postgraduate students with various degrees of success in academic and teaching activities was investigated. The sample includes 85 postgraduate students of Chelyabinsk universities in number aged 23–30 (25 men and 60 women). Significant intergroup difference in all studied parameters except for satisfaction with physical working conditions are established. The structure of parameters interrelations in group of postgraduate students with low degree of professional success is much more diverse and includes practically all indicators of work satisfaction. The obtained results assume that postgraduate students with low degree of professional success are more dependent on the subjective factors which exist in the academic institution and are more sensitive to them. The decrease of work satisfaction level in postgraduate students with high degree of professional success correlates with increased need for achievement, pronounced self-belief and belief for freedom of choosing one’s own way of life. More successful postgraduate students, who are self-assured and aimed at success achievement, are likely to encounter certain difficulties (inflexibility of educational system, personality factors which they can't affect, etc) that reduce general level of their work satisfaction. Thus, the carried out investigation shows that interrelation between peculiarities of values and motivation and work satisfaction in postgraduate students with high and low degrees of success in academic and teaching activities is group specific.
