Qualitative and quantitative analysis of the results of focus group interviews with teachers is given. During the interviews teachers compared socio-psychological peculiarities in adolescents of the cohort of 1970-1980 and in contemporary adolescents in the context of cultural, social and economic transformations in Ukraine. Content analysis and generalization of the teachers' responses allowed identifying and describing 7 categories of positive characteristics and 7 categories of negative characteristics of modern adolescents. Contradiction between the groups of positive and negative characteristics is interpreted by the author as the phenomenon of “multiple vision” and variation (typology) of adolescents psychosocial development. The necessity of studying characteristics of productive and non-productive types of coming-of-age is emphasized.
